World Champion Triathlete Chris McCormack Chooses Specialized.Since the kick-off of the 2007 season, some of the world's fastest athletes and teams have chosen Specialized, and this has continued with the signing of Australian triathlete Chris McCormack (aka "Macca"). Ned Overend said about the new signing, "I have followed Macca's career for a decade, from Olympic distance to Ironman, and his versatility and professionalism will make him a great asset to the Specialized team." Chris has already been racing and training with the Specialized bikes he received. "Specialized is the marquee bicycle company in the world. They are associated with some of the biggest names and teams within the sport of cycling and, as a triathlete, we always try to mirror what the fastest guys in the cycling world utilize to maximize our own performances. The ability for me to access all their resources plus their state of the art equipment is incredible. It's a dream come true as an athlete to access this sort of expertise and a true honor to unveil their newest creation. As someone who is always looking to save precious time in order to win World Titles, these are the little things that make a difference. All the hard work and training can take you so far but the rest is up to equipment and expertise. With Specialized I have this covered. My first ride on the bike was incredible. Their new Transition bike is incredibly fast and really an unfair advantage. Specialized has thought about everything to make this bike go fast. Now the rest is up to me," said Chris about joining Specialized. The winner of the Roth Ironman for three consecutive years, and second place last year in Hawaii, Macca has also won more than 150 major triathlon competitions, including five consecutive Ironman Australia championships, 32 consecutive major US titles and an unprecedented ITU double (an ITU World Championship and World Cup Series in the same year), in which he stands as the only male triathlete to have ever won such a title. McCormack has also been named Triathlete of the Year, Competitor of the Year, and Australian Sports Star of the Year an amazing three times each. McCormack will race on the new carbon Specialized Transition, that features a lightweight FACT carbon frame and fork, ergonomically efficient geometry and wind tunnel-tested aerodynamics that have been specifically tuned for races against the clock. Throughout the season, McCormack will train on the same light and efficient Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL that is used by top road racing professionals like Olympic and World Champion Paolo Bettini of the Quick StepInnergetic team. Honu Hawaii 70.3 half Ironman Once again Chris Mccormack showed his dominance over the field claiming his 2nd straight Honu Hawaii 70.3 Half Ironman. Macca smashed the field going 3:56 over the 70.3 mile course, breaking his own course record on his new Transition bike. McCormick had control of the men's race from the beginning. He was initially part of the lead chase group out of the swim but quickly dominated the 56-mile bike leg which involves a climb know as the Queen K by triathletes. Chris rode into the transition area with a 3 minute lead at the Mauna Lani Resort. Date: 05/06/2007
