Specialized frame designers were quick to point out during the press launch at this year's TDF, that the radical dimensions of the new Transition just barely satisfied UCI requirements, saying that "the designers and engineers pushed right up to the legal limit in an effort to give riders the maximum aerodynamic advantage possible."

Thanks to a close eye on the details, the Transition has been designed to cheat the wind and beat the competition. With seconds making the difference between first and, well, really far back, the devil in any multi-sport event is certainly in the details. So, it's no surprise that multisport athletes stick energy bars to their top tubes, shave the backs of their shoulders and drill holes in their shoes to allow the water drain out. It's also no surprise that Specialized have designed their Transition with wind cheating aerodynamic efficiency and Ironman-winning geometry.
